Do you know how to find the SLOPE of the line????
the equation of a line is of the form y = mx + b where 'm' is the slope of the line.
Slope is defined as rise / run = (y1-y2) / (x1-x2)
So let's sub in the coordinates you are given
(-5-2) / (0-4) = -7/-4 = 7/4 = slope = m
So far you have y = 7/4 x + b
If you substitute one of the sets of numbers in this equation you can find 'b'
y=7/4 x + b
-5 = 7/4 (0) + b
b= -5
So now your line equation is y = 7/4 x - 5 Substitute point (4,2) in there to see if it is correct !
2 = 7/4(4) -5 Check !
