If it is SQUARE the LENGTH (or you might call it  WIDTH) and the HEIGHT are the same.

Correct METHODOLOGY, but wrong NUMBERS

  = 3x^2 -12x + 12 - 27

  = 3x^2 -12x - 15

y = 3 (x-5)(x+1)

y = 30 = -4.9 t^2 + 200

     -170 = -4.9 t^2

     170/4.9 = t^2

      t = 5.89 sec when the ball is still 30 meters above the ground.

When the ball HITS the ground, y = 0       0 = -4.9t^2 + 200    results in t = 6.389 seconds

OK...then it SHOULD read something like   y = -4.9 t^2 +200     t=x

Volume of manltle = 4/3 pi rm^3 - 4/3 pi rc^3      rm = radius of mantle   rc = radius of core

                              = 4/3 pi (rm^3 - rc^3)

                              = 4/3 pi (3954^3 - 380^3) = 2.587 x10^11 cu miles  (approx)

There is no 'x' in the equation.....did you forget it???
