That cake looks delicious!  That was a fabulous birthday cake!

We often have pavlova, they don't always look so good but they taste great :)

I asked one of my boys once what kind of cake did he want for his birthday. He say "Just one the same as usual."  I struggled with that one.  He meant a pavlova, a pavlova is not really a cake, it is more of a sweet :)

I was trying to find a really good pic of one but like I said they are not very photogenic.  They have a hard merangue shell then soft merangue then cream topped with fruit.  Strawberries and passionfruit are the most common (I don't like passionfruit so mine don't have that!).  Other common fruits used are banana, kiwifruit and peaches,   Yum :)

One inch represents how many feet?

1 inch represents 48000 inches

now you just have to change the inches to feet

One centimeter represents how many meters?

One cm represents 48000cm

now change the cm to metres

If the map is 17 inches wide and 25 inches tall, how many square miles are shown on the map?

1 inch represents 48000 inches 

17 inches represents 48000*17inches

How many inches are there in a mile?  Idk, I'd have to look it up same as you.

17 represents ......    miles

Do the same to the other length.

Multiply them together and you will have the number of square miles :))

=3+  9  -3+3

=12-3+3

There are 52C5 ways to draw 5 card. Only 4 of those are royal flushes.

So

Prob is  4/  52C5

nCr(52,5) = 2598960

So it is  4/2598960

2598960/4 = 649740

So it is  1/649740

This is assuming you pick up 5 cards and they are 10, J, Q, K, A all of the same suite BUT the order they are picked up in is NOT relevant.

I understand what you are saying Yura but I would love to be teaching you face to face right now.

I know you are expected to memorize the formula and I understand that formula are nice and comfortable and if you memorize them they work really well.

I too learned formula for this before I really understood what was happening.

BUT if you understood what was happening you would not need the formula - the method would just be obvious.

I know there is very little time for anything when you studying conscienciously full time but try to make time to understand graphs.  If you understand them then many other things become so much easier.  Many things just become obvious!
