Why is 2x, 3x and 4x  not on the arcs ?

You cannot work out actual distances when you are not given any actural distance.

I don't think so anyway.  

Do you want the distance answers in terms of the radius?

\(\frac{3}{4}\times x=28\\ \frac{3}{4}\times x\times \frac{4}{3}=28\times \frac{4}{3}\\ x=28\times \frac{4}{3}\\\)

So yes you need three integers that are as close as posible to the same value, that multiply to give 100.

what would the lowest surface area for a prism with a volume of 100 meters cubed??? 

(using only whole numbers for dementions)

The lowest surface area would be if the sides were all the same.

side length = 100^(1/3) = 4.641588833612778m        

So the surface area would be   6*(100^(1/3))^2 = 129.2660814019129736   cm^2

this is the same as 6*4.641588833612778^2

or

the same as      6*(100^(2/3))

It really means  x=i    OR    x = -i

x obviously cannot equal both at once and that is what 'and' means :)

It is a technical difference but it is an important one for both of you to understand :)

It is already an expression

but you can expand it if you want.

3*(x-5)(x-5) = 3*(x^2-10x+25) = 3x^2-30x+75

It would be easy to do with a probability tree.

There is no real answer, YOu cannot find the squareroot of a negative number but if you know about complex numbers there is an imaginary answer.

10x - 4 = 8x + 12

10x - 4-8x = 8x + 12-8x

2x - 4 =  12

2x - 4 +4=  12+4

2x =  16

x=8
