Interest rate is 7%=0.07 per year = 0.07/12 per month

FV (future value) = P(1+r)^n = 12000(1+0.07/12)^12

If you want just the interest you will need to subtract the 12000 from this answer. 

I don't know what you mean.  Perhaps you could provide us with an example?

Perhaps you mean something like  7x+(x/8)?

If you want to make it all one term then you need a comon denominator which will be 8

So it will become

$$7x+\frac{x}{8}\\\\
=\frac{7*8x}{8}+\frac{x}{8}\\\\
=\frac{56x+x}{8}\\\\
=\frac{57x}{8}\\\\$$

Lets look at this

$$$U=F(r+B)$ First you need to get rid of the F. So you divide BOTH sides by F\\\\
$\frac{U}{F}=\frac{F(r+B)}{F}$\\\\
$\frac{U}{F}=r+B$\\\\
Now you need to get rid of the B off the RHS so you subtract it from both sides\\
$\frac{U}{F}-B=r+B-B$\\\\
$\frac{U}{F}-B=r$\\\\
$r=\frac{U}{F}-B$\\\\$$

there are lots of ways to do it but I wil show you the most formal way. 

$$1 \frac{3}{4} \div \frac{1}{2}\\\\
= \frac{4*1+3}{4} \div \frac{1}{2}\\\\
= \frac{7}{4} \div \frac{1}{2}\\\\
\mbox{When you are dividing by a fraction your have to invert(turn the second one upside down) and multiply}\\\\
= \frac{7}{4} \times \frac{2}{1}\\\\
= \frac{14}{4} \\\\
= 3\frac{2}{4} \\\\
= 3\frac{1}{2} \\\\$$

I have an idea.  You asked if you could help.  This post is out of date plus i can't edit the early posts because they belong to the old forum and they can't be edited any more.

Would you like to try updating it for us?  You will have to think about how to do this.  Maybe talk to Ninja.  He is doing a really good job with 2 other threads.  He may even help you with the 'look'.  The forum will look more professional if these information threads have a similar look about them.

If you don't want to do this or it becomes too difficult then don't worry about it.  It is just a thought. 

By the way, I know that you greet people with private messages when they join.  I really like this.  Thank you.
