The circle centered at (2,-1) and with radius 4 intersects the circle centered at (2,8) and with radius sqrt(14) at two points A and B. Find AB^2.
AB^2 = 22.
I don't understand how they can intersect.
Their centers are on a vertical line 9 units apart (from -1 to 8).
The first circle has a radius of 4 while the second circle has a radius less than 4.
How can they intersect?
