Need some clarification here.....   what is the mass of each dumbell?

a_{1 = 8000}

Sum of a series ===    a₁ (1-rⁿ)/(1-r)

57875  = 8000 (1- (-1.5)ⁿ )/(1- -1.5)     now solve for n , the number of terms

57875 = 3200 (1-(-1.5)ⁿ )

           = 3200 - 3200(-1.5ⁿ)

54675 = -3200 (-1.5ⁿ)

-17.0859375 = (-1.5)ⁿ

n=7                                              to find the 7 th term   x₇ = a₁ (r^n-1)  = 8000 (-1.5)⁶  = 91125

No..... you are converting the equation to an equation with the leading coefficient  a= 1 to use this 'new'  formula....   just as I said,

40 (26)  + 10 (39)  =  $ .........  

The height s of the ball in feet is given by the equation 2.7 t^2 + 50t + 6.5    So equate this to 12 ft and solve for 't'

2.7 t^2 + 50t + 6.5 = 12

2.7 t^2 + 50t  -5.5=0       Now use quadratic formula to find t =0.109354 sec   and  −18.6279 (throw out)

ingredients in constituents = ingredients in final solution

let x be the amount of 6%        the amount of 'active' ingredients is 6% of x    or  .06x

  then 16-x  is the amount of 14% solution                                                            .14(16-x)

    added together they must equal the final solution    10%  and 16 ounces   or   .1 (16)

.06x        +    .14(16-x)        =    .1(16)        solve for 'x' the 6% solution amount...then the 14% amount will be 16 - x

I think this is overrated....I will bet this only works when the leading x^2 coefficient is 1

   here is the standard quadratic formula:

-b  +- sqrt (b^2 - 4ac)

when a = 1     this becomes:          -b/2  +- sqrt (b^2/4 - c)       the same 'majic' formula !!!

SO this is just the quadratic formula with a = 1 ....nothing new here folks, move along !   

You aren't really trying....or you really aren't learning anything.....

(x+1) + 5 = third side          all three sides added together = 42              solve for x = short side     

Then x+ 1 = second side

   then    (x+1) + 5 = third side   

All of the angles of a triangle add to 180 degrees.....

   what do YOU think the largest angle woud be in a RIGHT triangle???
