Look at the values of x        then read across the table to see if the value of f(x) = g(x)

    where does that occur?     at x = 1   it occurs:    f(x) = 14   g(x) = 14

       does it occur anywhere else?   What do you think?

 A pair of fair dice is rolled.

36 possible rolls       Six would  be same numbers     6/36 = 1/6

    All the other rolls would be DIFFERENT numbers      30/36   =  5/6

Subtract the = rolls...that leaves 30 rolls      1/2 of these would be second die lower      15/36  = 5/12

x = two point shots         points   = 2x

y = 3 point shots            points = 3y   

             x + y = 55      and     2x + 3y = 91          two equations  and two unknowns   solve for x and y

I would multipl the first equation by   - 3      then add to the second equation  to solve for 'x'     then    x+ y = 55 to find 'y'
