If you have done part a) then part b) is asking you to see which if any of the three values of part a) is 100 g or more.

Find the largest value of y = 5 - 2x - x^2, for real numbers x.

So the average speed is  6.5m/s  and the average velocity is 2.5m/s

x - y = 4      (2)

Add (1) and (2):  2x = 14,  so  x = 7  

Put this in (1) to get  7 + y = 10   or   y = 3
