1/3* (2x − 8) = 4        multiply both sides by 3

2x - 8  = 12                 add 8 to both sides

2x = 20                       divide by 2

x = 10

As mari379 said, it is 6......let's see how to get there........

5c - c + 10  = 34      combine like terms on the left

4c + 10 = 34        subtract 10 from both sides

4c = 24                divide both sides by 4

c = 6
