 2(4x+1) < 3(2x-3)     simplify

8x + 2   <   6x - 9       add 9 to both sides, subract 8x from both sides

11 <  -2x          divide both sides by - 2 and reverse the inequality sign

-11/2 > x

We can solve this

5x - 4  =  3M

3x + 8  = M

Multiply  the second equation by 3 

5x  - 4  =  3M

9x + 24  = 3M

The right side is equal, so set the equations equal

5x  - 4  =  9x  + 24     add 4 to both sides, subtract 9x from both sides

-4x  =  28      divide both sides by -4

x  =  -7

Since the sides are all the same length we have that

6x - 1  =  4x +  6        add 1 to both sides, subtract 2x from both sides

6x - 4x  =  6 + 1

2x  =  7     divide both sides by 2

x  =  7/2

So......subbing this into    4x +  6   we have   [  4 (7/2) + 6 ]  = [ 28/2  + 6 ]  =
