So

AB /AC  = AC/ AD

AB / 6 = 6 / 3     multiply both sides by 6

AB  =  36 / 3   =   12

2.  In the form  y  = mx  ...... the slope  =  m  = 3.5

This means that as  x changes by 1, y changes by 3.5

3. Suppose  that it costs 3.50 to rent a canoe for  1 hour

Then...the cost of renting a canoe for  x hours =  y = 3.5x     where y is the total cost

(b) Since XB = XC   ....then the angles opposite these sides are equal

a)  Unit rate  =  24 oz / 10lb   = 2.4 oz /  lb

This means that we  need 2.4 oz of seasoning for every pound of crawfish

b) For  30 lbs....we need    30 * 2.4 =  72 oz of seasoning

c)  With 36 oz of seasoning...we can cook      36 / 2.4  =  15 lbs of crawfish

1.  ln 216x^4  ...this is a single  natural log 

We could write this as 

 ln 216 + ln x^4   = 

ln 216 + 4 ln x 

2.  ln 72x  ..this is a single natural log expression

We  could write this  as

ln 72  + ln x

3. ln (216 + x^4)   ....cannot be simplified any further

4.  ln 18x^4  ....this is a single natural log expression

We could write this as

ln 18  +  ln x^4  =

ln 18 + 4 ln x

Note  that  all the possible   positive differences are generated by

3 -1      =  2

5 -1     =  4
