Using  the square of the  distance  formula

(3sqrt (5))^2  + (d +6)^2  =  (3d)^2      simplify

45  +  d^2 + 12d + 36   =  9d^2

Rearrange as

8d^2 -12d - 81   =  0

Using the   quad formula

12 ±  sqrt  ( 144 - 4 * 8 (-81) )

________________________  =

         2* 8

12 ± sqrt ( 2736)

______________         take the positive answer

          16

12 +  sqrt (2736)

_______________

           16

12 + 12 sqrt (19)

______________

        16

(12/16  (   1 + sqrt (19) )  =

(3/4) ( 1 + sqrt (19) )   =  d

Let

A = (0,6)   M  = (0,3)   N = (6,0)    C = (12,0)

Slope of AN =  ( 6 - 0) / (0 - 6)  =  -1

Equation of  line  containing  AN .....   y =   -1x + 6

Slope of MC  = ( 0-3)/(12 - 0)  =  -3/12   = -1/4

Equation of  line  containing MC .....     y = (-1/4)x+ 3

x coordinate  of P  = altitude of triangle AMP

(-1/4)x + 3 =  -1x + 6

(3/4) x  = 3

x = 4

And [ AMP ]  =  (1/2) AM * 4  = 2 * 3   =  6

And  area of triangle AMC  = (1/2) AM BC  = (1/2) (3) (12)    =18

So area of  APC =  [ AMC ] - [ AMP] =   18  - 6    = 12

Note that  we have two right triangles  formed  by  AK

One is  triangle BAK  and the other is CAK

BC  = BK + CK  =15

Usinfg the Pythagorean Theorem

BA   = sqrt ( BK^2 + AK^2)  =  sqrt  ( 8^2  + 6^2)  = sqrt ( 100)   =  10

And

CA  =sqrt ( CK^2  + AK^2)  =  sqrt ( 7^2 + 6^2)  =  sqrt (85)

So....the   perimeter is  BC + BA  + CA  =  15 + 10 sqrt (85)  =  15 + 10 sqrt (85)

Let  the roots  be  m  and  n

By Vieta

m + n  =  -3/5

mn = 4/5

So

a + b  =   1/m   +  1 /n  =        ( m + n)  / (mn)    =    (-3/5) / ( 4/5)   =   -3/4

Simplifying   by distributing the  5  the understood -1 and  the  -4

-15x -10  - x  + 3   =  -16x  -20  +  13  combine like terms

-16x - 7    =   -16x - 7

Note  that   any  x   makes this true.....so....the "solution"  is all real numbers

Rewrite the second polynomial as

-4x^2 + 6x  + 3

So we have

2x^2  + 5x  - 7

-4x^2 + 6x + 3

____________

Can you finish it  ????

Using   synthetic division

1  [  1      a        b                  c  ]

               1      a + 1        a + b + 1

     _________________________

       1   a + 1   a + b + 1     a + b + c + 1      = 14

Which  means that

a + b + c     = 13

And

-1  [  1      a         b                    c    ]

               -1      1 - a           a - b - 1

     ____________________________

       1   a  -1   -a + b + 1   a - b + c - 1  = 0

Which means  that

a - b + c   = 1

And

-2 [  1       a         b                     c  ]

              -2       -2a + 4         4a -2b -8

     _____________________________

       1    a -2    -2a + b + 4    4a  - 2b + c - 8  = -18

Which means that

4a  - 2b  + c  = -10

So  we have this system

a + b + c   =13

a - b  + c   =  1

4a - 2b + c  = -10

Subtract  the second equation  from the first

2b  =  12

b  = 6

So the last two equations become

a - 6  + c   = 1   ⇒   a + c    =  7          ( 1)

4a  - 2(6)  + c  = -10  ⇒   4a + c    =  2   ⇒   -4a - c   =  -2     (2)

Add (1)  and (2)  and we get that

-3a  =  5

a  = -5/3

And

-5/3  + c  =  21/3

c = 26/3

Trick question

15x + 3y   =  6     divide through by  3

5x  + y   =  2

And

2y  = -10x  + 4   rearrange as

10x + 2y   = 4    divide  through  by 2

5x + y   = 2

The lines are the same !!!.....the number of "intersection" points is  infinite

I'm TOO old  !!!!

Rearrange  as

-8x + 5y  =  8

8x + 7y =  16

This works out  nice and neat....add the two equations

12y = 24     divide  both sides by 12

y  =24/12    = 2

And using  either equation

8x + 7(2)  =16

8x  + 14   = 16

8x  =  16 - 14

8x  =  2

x =  2/8    =  1/4

The intersection is   ( 1/4, 2 )
